Texas political adviser convicted of abuse

EDINBURG, Texas - A political consultant whose company was behind a television ad accusing the Clinton-Gore administration of giving away nuclear technology was convicted of child molestation charges.

A jury deliberated almost two days before convicting Carey Lee Cramer, 44, of aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts of indecency with a child by contact and one count of indecency with a child by exposure. He was cleared of nine other charges Tuesday.

The sentencing phase of the trial was scheduled to begin Wednesday. Cramer faces up to 149 years in prison.

Stonewall Anniversary

Gays protesting in the 70s.

From The Stonewall Riot and Its Aftermath:

On Friday evening, June 27, 1969, the New York City tactical police force raided a popular Greenwich Village gay bar, the Stonewall Inn. Raids were not unusual in 1969; in fact, they were conducted regularly without much resistance. However, that night the street erupted into violent protest as the crowds in the bar fought back. The backlash and several nights of protest that followed have come to be known as the Stonewall Riots.

Prior to that summer there was little public expression of the lives and experiences of gays and lesbians. The Stonewall Riots marked the beginning of the gay liberation movement that has transformed the oppression of gays and lesbians into calls for pride and action. In the past twenty-five years we have all been witness to an astonishing flowering of gay culture that has changed this country and beyond, forever.

Wikipedia has a Stonewall entry as well if you’d like to read more. Though Wiki’s entry said the Stonewall was the 28th of July, the press clippings from the earlier link said the 27th.

Rush Limbaugh Loves His Viagra

Rush Limbaugh loves his Viagra.

Limbaugh Detained At Airport For Drugs

WEST PALM BEACH Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh was detained at Palm Beach International Airport for the possible possession of illegal prescription drugs Monday evening.

Limbaugh was returning on a flight from the Dominican Republic when customs officials found a Viagra prescription that did not bear his name. Instead, the bottle of pills had the names of two doctors on it according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

For those not in the know, the Dominican Republic is a popular sex tourism destination. So Limbaugh goes to a country known for this, goes as a tourist and brings his Viagra down with him. Whatever could he have been doing?

It’s mean but I’ll admit this newstory cracked me up. If he weren’t such an asshole I might have some pity for the man.
