From the Telegraph:
Council officials told to question adults in public park without children
“People out for a stroll or to walk their dog face being quizzed about their motives for being there and placed under suspicion of being a paedophile.
Senior officials at Telford and Wreckin Council said the policy was to protect children and the vulnerable, and they would only stop anyone acting suspiciously.
But their actions have been branded heavy handed and “draconian”.
The policy came to light after two environmental campaigners dressed as penguins were thrown out of Telford Town Park when caught handing out leaflets on climate change.
Rachel Whittaker and Neil Donaldson, of the Wrekin Stop War pressure group, were told they had to leave the park because they had not undergone Criminal Records Bureau checks or risk assessments before being allowed near children.”
—
This riles me up for several reasons. As a Pagan I like to go to parks. Communing with nature to Pagans is like going to church for Christians. Say I go to a park alone to chill with the trees and that might get me questioned? Irk #1.
Irk #2 is my childfree choice. My main reason for being childfree is that I don’t like children. Generally I avoid parks that families go to because of this. Some parks are secluded and quiet so I go to those instead. But getting harassed because a person isn’t a breeder with a child in tow? Grrr….
Irk #3 is the obvious political angle. People dressed as penguins handing out pamplets on climate change are doing activism. They’re not pedos who’ve created an elaborate disguise to grab the kiddies. If these two were handing out pro war pamphlets I’d bet they wouldn’t have gotten hassled.

I talk to a lot of sissies. Originally I planned to write about them for the Fetish Fridays series. Instead one of my blog readers Nanette, who is a sissy, agreed to an interview. She sent me the above picture which is her beloved Barbie plate where all of her sissies releases are deposited and then eaten.
How would you define a sissy? What sort of things do sissies have in common?
Sissies love to be surrounded by femininity — makeup, lipstick, perfume, panties, bras, camisoles, stockings, shoes, magazines like Marie Claire (Cosmopolitan is a bit too forward for this sissy). Nancy Drew mysteries. Hobbies like needlepoint. Dolls and dollhouses. Shopping for clothes. Sissies love feminizing their own bodies — toenail polish, shaving, bubble baths.
The poor sissified boy in the Who’s “I’m a Boy” is not a sissy, though that is one of the all-time great sissy songs.
How do sissies differ from each other?
Two of the main differences are sexual orientation and degree of sissy immersion. Some sissies are gay, some are straight, some have elements of both. Some are sissies primarily for sexual fun and lead a non-sissy life, or attempt to, when not seeking sexual satisfaction. Others would be perfectly content to be sissified 24/7 if society allowed.
Humiliation seems to be a key part of being a sissy. Yet I would define the humiliation as a “fun humiliation”. Would you agree?
Yes, I would agree. For some sissies the actual humiliation is *not* fun, but the anticipation and recollection of it is. Over time, sissies may develop a tolerance for humiliation — what was once humiliating becomes commonplace — and need to raise the degree of humiliation.
What do you consider to be the difference between a sissy and a crossdresser?
I would say that virtually all sissies are crossdressers, but not all crossdressers are sissies. Crossdressers simply feel more comfortable wearing women’s clothes. There isn’t an element of inferiority involved.
I would also say that the humiliation aspect is one thing that differentiates a sissy from a crossdresser. A crossdresser may not feel the need to be humiliated, may just feel most themselves when dressed in feminine attire, but are subservient to no one when dressed. A sissy would often feel aware of being sexually inferior –not successful as a male, but try as she might, not as feminine as a genetic woman.
When did you realize you were a sissy?
I was late to the party. I did not realize I was a sissy until reading letters to Penthouse when I was in college. A couple of the letters about forced feminization and male submission were electric — more exciting than the pictures, for that matter, more exciting than live sexual partners. One in particular I nearly memorized — “Weekend Wenches.”
How has your sissyhood changed over time?
I am more sissified more of the time than I used to be. I used to view it like an affliction that would erupt out of nowhere, need to be satisfied, and then hopefully go away. Now I am more accepting of it. I don’t think anything of coming home from work and changing into a bra or cami and panty — it’s just what I do. Likewise, when I am allowed sissy release, it used to be off with the sissy clothing as soon as possible afterwards. Now, thanks to years of training from some wonderful phone mistresses, having an orgasm doesn’t change anything about my sissiness. I am a sissy before and after.
However, I am still acutely aware that a sissy is not accepted in American society. I would not want to be “outed” at work, or among friends or family not in the scene. Some sissies are more advanced than I in that regard.
What are some myths or misconceptions about sissies that you’ve run into?
The main one would be that most sissies are gay. Those in the sex worker world know this not to be so, but few of those outside the industry know.
A complicating factor is that forced bisexual activity is a common sissy fantasy. Many would say that this just proves that sissies are gay, but that really isn’t the dynamic. I have no interest in having sex with a man, but being “forced” to have sex with a man– or even better, another sissy — under the watchful eye of a dominant female is exciting. It’s the submission to the female that makes it so.
Of course, some sissies are gay. The element of sexual inferiority would still apply, most likely, but probably involves submission to a dominant male rather than a dominant female. (I am speculating here –truly gay sissies are not my long suit.)
Is there anything in particular that you would like people to know about sissies?
Most of us are closeted. It would be great to be able to be a sissy in real life and not have to worry about the consequences, but society is not yet ready for us. We can come out in everyday life only at tremendous personal cost. Many of the battles for acceptance fought by gays in the 1960s and 1970s are still remaining to be fought by sissies braver than I. That’s too bad, because we are really quite harmless and can be a lot of fun.
Thank you for the interview Nanette!

From Info Wars:
Olbermann: Bush Administration “Allowed 9/11 Attacks To Occur”
“MSNBC host Keith Olbermann perhaps went further than ever before last night in his special comment about the 9/11 anniversary, slamming the Bush administration for their “criminal neglect” in allowing the attacks to occur and identifying the continued exploitation of 9/11 “sociological pornography” as the only reason that Bush hasn’t been impeached.
Olbermann said that the anniversary of the September 11 attacks had been turned into a brand name - “9/11™” and that such propaganda has “sustained a President that long ago should have been dismissed or impeached.””
(snip)
“The anchor of Countdown then returned to the disgrace of the Republicans airing graphic video of people jumping from the towers and planes slamming into the building during the second night of the convention as a “tribute” to 9/11 victims.
“The television networks were told that the convention would pause early in the evening, when children could still be watching, for a 9/11 tribute and they were encouraged to broadcast that tribute. What we got was not a tribute for the dead of 9/11 or even a tribute to the responders….the Republicans instead gave us sociological pornography,a virtual snuff film.””

There’s a YouTube video of Obermann’s speech you can watch in the above link. Damn he’s on fire! I agree with everything he says in this speech.

From Neatorama:
Living Without TVs
“Can you live without television? It may seem strange, but there are Ameircans who abstain from watching TV by choice.
A new research by Marina Krcmar, professor of communications at North Carolina’s Wake Forest University revealed that the majority of them are either very liberal or very conservative.”
(snip)
“In contrast to the average American adult, who watches three hours of television a day, non-watchers fill their time with a plethora of activities.
“Non-viewers had a greater variety of things that they did with their free time than viewers did,” Krcmar said. “It’s not just that they were reading instead of watching TV. They were hiking and biking, and going to community meetings and visiting with friends. Overall, they tend to do more of everything.”"
—
This year marks the 10th year I haven’t owned a TV. I can’t imagine going back. It’s true I have more time and that I have a “plethora of activities”. Actually I’m quite busy and don’t see how I could own a TV-I wouldn’t have time to watch it.
I find it interesting that people without TV tend to be either very liberal or very conservative. Anyone who reads my blog knows I fall on the very liberal side. As different as our politics may be I have several things in common with conservative folks; the most common is our extreme dislike of television. Other shared beliefs include a healthy distrust of the government and a love of guns.
One time in a gun store Mr. Radical and I chatted with a man who voted for Bush twice. We of course disagreed on Bush and the Iraq war but our shared love of firearms kept the conversation fun.
But back to TV. I recently came across the following article from Democracy Underground:
Who owns CNN? MSNBC? ABC? Look who their biggest donations went to…
“Who owns CNN? or MSNBC? ABC? So ya think we have a “free press” eh? Check out who owns who, and who owns what you think…….
GENERAL ELECTRIC –(donated 1.1 million to GW Bush for his 2000 election campaign)
Television Holdings:
* NBC: includes 13 stations, 28% of US households.
* NBC Network News: The Today Show, Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Meet the Press, Dateline NBC, NBC News at Sunrise.
* CNBC business television; MSNBC 24-hour cable and Internet news service (co-owned by NBC and Microsoft); Court TV (co-owned with Time Warner), Bravo (50%), A&E (25%), History Channel (25%).
The “MS” in MSNBC
means microsoft
The same Microsoft that donated 2.4 million to get GW bush elected.
Other Holdings:
* GE Consumer Electronics.
* GE Power Systems: produces turbines for nuclear reactors and power plants.
* GE Plastics: produces military hardware and nuclear power equipment.
* GE Transportation Systems: runs diesel and electric trains.”
The post lists more companies, their campaign contributions and what media they own. Sometimes I think the presidential election has already been decided; it just hasn’t been announced to the public yet. Mind you I’ll still be voting in November but I’m cynical.

From Queers United:
Subway Fires Former Gay Porn Star
“22-year-old gay porn star Kurt Wild was fired from his day job at a Subway restaurant outside of St. Louis when a customer recognized him and threatened to boycott the fast food joint if Wild wasn’t fired.
Wild says in an email:
Hey everyone.
I just wanted to tell everyone that I was just fired from my work at subway because I have done gay porn. A customer said they wouldn’t even eat there at subway anymore because of my past work and said that if I wasn’t fired then they would boycott the store. What I say is, if one person can try to ruin me everywhere I work… maybe I should take a stand and boycott their store too if they can’t let people’s privacy be treated right. I should have the right to work anywhere I can and it isn’t right or fair that people can keep me from working simply because of a “gay” issue. If a girl did what we do it would probably be ok.. and if a guy does straight porn.. he is bragged about. When I do gay porn, I feel a bit lynched for the rest of my life. Not right. Thanks for reading.
- Kurt Wild” (BGay.com)”
Queers United helpfully gives Subway’s Customer Service Form which you can fill out here. I just sent my comment and will let you know if I get a response.

From The Age:
Stripper on rape count after buck’s party
“A best man allegedly raped by a stripper with a sex toy had stepped in for the groom who “wasn’t interested” in his buck’s party’s strip show, a court has heard.
(snip)
One witness said the best man had looked uncomfortable throughout the performance and was forced on to all fours by Naggs who was naked and wearing a sex toy.
“She went behind him and pulsated to push him to the ground,” he said.
The witness said he heard the man scream and get to his feet.”
I’m curious to see how this trial turns out.

From Kasidie:
10 Things That No Swinger Home Should Be Without
“With nearly a decade of experience in the swinger lifestyle, I’ve been to a lot of people’s homes and have learned a lot about how the littlest things can often make a big difference in one’s enjoyment of an evening. The following is a list I’ve compiled of 10 simple items that every swinger should have in their home, along with some relevant and entertaining stories submitted by Kasidie readers.”
Though I’m not a swinger I found this article interesting. Many of the items listed could be useful in a sex workers tool bag.

Jesse and I had been playing horrible phone tag. This happened leading up to the RNC so there was much to talk about. When we finally got to talk we didn’t waste any time jumping into things.
RV: Hey!
J: OMG Where do we begin?
RV: Palin!
J: I know!!!
We launched into our bitch session about Palin first. When we got to her history of being anti-choice Jesse said:
“Do we even know she’s a woman? I’ve seen her voting record but I haven’t seen her vagina!”

From Democracy Now:
Call to Action on Behalf of DN! Journalists Facing Charges for Reporting on the Republican National Convention
“Today it is critical that you make your voice heard in the Ramsey County Attorney and St. Paul City Attorney offices. Demand that they drop all pending and current charges against journalists arrested while reporting on protests outside the Republican National Conventions.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s office is in the process of deciding whether or not to press felony P.C. (probable cause) riot charges against Democracy Now! Producers Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar. Please contact Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner by all means possible to demand that her office not press charges against Kouddous and Salazar.”
(I’m a naughty blogger and am posting this the night of Sept. 3. But this is vital news. Check Democracy Now for updates.)
Amy Goodman tells us what happened.
Why We Were Falsely Arrested
“Government crackdowns on journalists are a true threat to democracy. As the Republican National Convention meets in St. Paul, Minn., this week, police are systematically targeting journalists. I was arrested with my two colleagues, “Democracy Now!” producers Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar, while reporting on the first day of the RNC. I have been wrongly charged with a misdemeanor. My co-workers, who were simply reporting, may be charged with felony riot.
(snip)
I was at the Xcel Center on the convention floor, interviewing delegates. I had just made it to the Minnesota delegation when I got a call on my cell phone with news that Sharif and Nicole were being bloody arrested, in every sense. Filmmaker Rick Rowley of Big Noise Films and I raced on foot to the scene. Out of breath, we arrived at the parking lot. I went up to the line of riot police and asked to speak to a commanding officer, saying that they had arrested accredited journalists.
Within seconds, they grabbed me, pulled me behind the police line and forcibly twisted my arms behind my back and handcuffed me, the rigid plastic cuffs digging into my wrists. I saw Sharif, his arm bloody, his credentials hanging from his neck. I repeated we were accredited journalists, whereupon a Secret Service agent came over and ripped my convention credential from my neck. I was taken to the St. Paul police garage where cages were set up for protesters. I was charged with obstruction of a peace officer. Nicole and Sharif were taken to jail, facing riot charges.”
Amy Goodman Grills St. Paul Police Chief About Her Arrest and Two Democracy Now! Producers
“On Tuesday morning, St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington held a news conference where he spoke about the nearly 300 people arrested in a police crackdown on protesters a day earlier. Among them were several journalists covering the protests in the streets, including three of us at Democracy Now!—Amy Goodman, Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar. Amy Goodman questions Harrington about the arrests.
(snip)
Well, as for our case, we have been charged, Democracy Now! producers and I, with—I have been charged with a misdemeanor, obstruction of legal process and interference with a peace officer. Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar still face a charge of probable cause felony riot. We have yet to hear whether those charges will be dropped. The video of my arrest was the most viewed video on YouTube yesterday. You can go to our website at democracynow.org, where you can see that video, as well as Nicole Salazar videotaping her own violent arrest. Of course, she and Sharif had not gone to the protest to do that. They had gone to video what was taking place on the streets of St. Paul.”
—
After reading of the arrests I told Mr. Radical-This is just McCain giving us a preview of what’s to come when he takes over the police state. Thoughtful of him really.

From CNN:
Greek Acropolis plan draw religious backlash
“Defying police presence and a thunderous downpour, dozens of Greek pagans huddled near the Parthenon in Athens on Sunday, holding a protest prayer for a museum being built at the foot of the sacred site.
The ceremony, attended by scores of curious onlookers, was performed amid the ruins of the 2,500-year-old Parthenon. The ancient Greek religion was outlawed by the Roman empire in the fourth century.
(snip)
” The Greek Culture Ministry forbids ceremonies of any sort at archeological sites. But in January, the pagan revivalists used a second century temple of Zeus in Athens to stage the first known ceremony of its kind in 1,600 years.
Four other ceremonies have been held in unfenced sites. On Sunday, the tiny band of pagans managed to enter the Acropolis’ heavily guarded grounds, paying an entrance fee as tourists and later convincing site guards of their innocuous cause.
The 15-minute midday rite was organized by Ellinais, an Athens-based group that recently won a court battle for state recognition of the ancient religion. The group is now demanding that the government allow it to perform weddings and other rites.”
—
This may not be a huge story to people but as a Pagan it grabbed my attention. Living in the mid-west openly Pagan I got a quick education in religious discrimination. Seeing a mainstream organization cover a Pagan protest is astounding. No name calling, no belittling, no sneering insults. Woot!
However I do have a gripe. Why didn’t they capitalize the “p” in Pagan? I can’t imagine CNN writing “christian” or “jewish” or “muslim”. They’re writing about Paganism as a real religion and for that I’m impressed. But they should have written “Pagan”. Also, when they quoted the High Priestess they should have written “High Priestess” and “Goddess”. They wouldn’t have a story and write “pope” or “god”.
In the past I’ve read a lot of shit written about Pagans-that we’re Satanists, baby killers, yadda yadda. In comparison this CNN article is positively glowing. I’ll count it as progress.

Ok seriously. Is it just me or is this Palin baby scandal a weird Onion story come to life? Buzzflush’s headline
“Palin Says No Truth to Teen Daughter Being Pregnant Out of Wedlock Last Year Because She’s Pregnant and Unmarried This Year” would be hilarious if it weren’t true.
This is why abstinence only education works people!
/sarcasm
I’m not sure which is more entertaining-the Fundies humping their Bibles over an underage Madonna/Whore fantasy come to life or the conspiracy theories flying by so fast I can hardly keep up on them. Palin fakes the daughter’s current pregnancy to conceal the fact that she faked her pregnancy to preserve the daughter’s virgin reputation! If this person wasn’t running for Vice President I’d be crying from laughing so hard.
I will admit Palin’s behavior the day of her labor is bizarre. If nothing else her day of bad decisions does not bode well for a person one heartbeat away from being POTUS. There’s a disturbing/fun timeline of her labor day I found at Democratic Underground.
Sarah Palin Pregnancy Decision Map
What election soap opera twist will be next? I’m not sure I want to know.
