Babeland sent me the Slimline Vibrator to review. It comes in a nifty storage case:

This vibrator isn’t made out of a new material. It doesn’t have a fancy remote control. It doesn’t even have a weird shape to it. But that’s what makes this vibe so great. The simplicity in design makes this toy a classic.

You know those times where you just want a one person quickie? Just a quick, no frills, squeeze it in the middle of a busy day orgasm? The Slimline delivers just that. It has a good length, good width and the vibrations are strong. It’s like the Old Faithful of vibrators.

My one complaint? The vibe takes C batteries. I prefer toys that take AAs or AAAs. But the Slimline is so reliable I’ll put up with the larger batts.

From the New York Times:
No Federal Charges Against Spitzer
“The United States attorney in Manhattan, Michael J. Garcia, announced on Thursday afternoon that no federal charges will be filed against former Gov. Eliot Spitzer of New York, who resigned in March in a scandal over his role as a customer of a prostitution ring.
After 14 months in office, Mr. Spitzer, a Democrat, resigned on March 12, 2008, after his role as a client of the prostitution ring, known as the Emperor’s Club V.I.P., became known. Mr. Spitzer’s resignation brought an abrupt close to a tenure marked by an almost unbroken string of stumbles and frustrations.
Federal prosecutors had been investigating whether Mr. Spitzer committed a crime known as structuring, or making payments in such a way as to conceal their purpose and source, by wiring money into a bank account controlled by the prostitution ring. That account — in the name of an entity called QAT Consulting — and another bank account were used to launder more than $1 million worth of proceeds derived from the prostitution ring, Mr. Garcia said in his statement on Thursday. Prosecutors also looked at whether Mr. Spitzer had used campaign money to pay for prostitutes.
The federal investigation found no evidence of misuse of public or campaign funds and found “insufficient evidence” to charge him in relation to the payments. Under the Mann Act, it is a federal crime to transport prostitutes across state lines, but charges under that act are rare.”
Spritzer gets no charges? I can’t say I’m surprised. But what about Temeka Rachelle Lewis, the booker for the Emperor’s Club? She pleaded guilty. Is she getting off the hook? I doubt it.

From WUSA9:
Secret Service Officer Arrested In Prostitution Sting
“A Secret Service officer was arrested early Saturday during a prostitution sting conducted by D.C. police in Northwest.
Inspector Brian Bray, commander of Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotics and Special Investigations Division (NSID), says his squad was conducting a prostitution sting in the area of 11th and K Sts NW around 12:50 a.m. when a marked Secret Service Uniformed Division patrol car stopped to speak with an undercover female officer who was posing as a prostitute.
The patrol car was driven by a Uniformed Division sergeant who was in uniform. Insp. Bray said the NSID officers assumed he was going to tell the undercover female officer to leave the area.
But the sergeant allegedly engaged the female officer in dialog, mentioned how attractive she was, and inquired about what sex acts she would perform. They agreed on a price of $20 and he drove around the corner to meet with her.”
Yet another reason why prostitution should be decriminalized. People from all walks of life hire prostitutes. Even those who work at the White House!
But $20?! That should have been the first clue the deal was a set up.

From XBiz:
Texas AG Drops Adult Toy Case Appeal
“Thanks to the Texas attorney general’s decision to drop the appeal in the Reliable Consultants Inc. case, adult toy sellers are no longer peddling illegal products in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.
U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel let that fact be known in a two-page document dated Oct. 29, in which he wrote that Texas attorney general’s office has notified him by telephone that his office would not file a writ of certiorari — an appeal — in Reliable Consultants Inc. vs. Texas.
The three states comprise the jurisdiction of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal, where Texas would have filed the appeal if it decided to do so.”
After the Prop 8 passed and Prop K didn’t at least there’s some good sex news to report. It was absurd that in 2008 dildos were illegal to buy in this country.

As I was finishing up this post I decided to check my email. It’s a good thing I did. Reader Tinka sent me this story.
From News Durham Region:
Lesbian couple attacked by man outside Oshawa school
“Classes had just let out Monday at Gordon B. Attersley elementary school on Attersley Drive, according to the couple.
Ms. Dimitriou said she was helping her son put his backpack into the car when another student’s father came toward her and began yelling.
He referred to her and Ms. Currie as men, she said, as she recounted what happened.
Ms. Dimitriou said the man swore at her, called her a slang word for lesbian in an aggressive and derogatory way, then “out of nowhere” spit in her face and punched her.”
(snip)
“The saddest part for the couple, still recovering from their own injuries, is the lasting impact it might have on their 6-year-old son and the other children who were just a few feet away.”
It will definitely have an impact. Hopefully all of the parents whose children saw this violence will educate their children on gays and tolerance. Earlier today I was talking to a friend about something similar. She told me about a time she saw members of the Klu Klux Klan and said this made quite the impact on her, teaching her much about race relations. As sad as this event is maybe it can be turned into an opportunity to educate.
Thank you Tinka for sending me this story! If other readers want to send me news to blog about please do! Email me at radicalvixenatgmaildotcom

I’m getting annoyed at the media again. In two days I’ve read at least three stories saying Palin made history as the first female vice presidential candidate on a major party ticket. But that’s wrong. She’s not the first. Geraldine Ferraro was. Why aren’t journalist fact checking?! Five minutes with Google would have given them the answer.
I was just a little girl then but I still remember seeing Ferraro on TV. At the time I didn’t fully grasp the significance but I do remember my mom and grandmother talking about how important she was. Her background can be read on her Wikipedia page. (Mind you, Wikipedia is not fool proof and does contain errors. But her article had a lot of linked footnotes so I thought it was a good one to link to.)
I found this YouTube clip of the Bush/Ferraro Vice Presidential debate. It’s weird to watch, partly because of the ’80s flashback and partly because the issues discussed are still the same-international terrorism, spying, sending off our soldiers to unnecessary war.
The best part is when Ferraro whips around as Bush tries to give her a little history lesson. She looked like she wanted to slap him. Hehe

From this gallery.
I could be wrong but it looks like the model is wearing a man’s dress shirt. There’s just something sexy about a woman wearing a piece of man’s clothing. I usually don’t wear pants in my photos because I worry it will cover up too much skin. One time though I wore a silky top and pants. The clothes were feminine but in some pics they looked like guy clothes. Those pictures have consistently been popular with my clients.

I’ve been quite the news junkie. Since yesterday afternoon I’ve been glued to my computer. I’ve been reading and watching so much news I’m cutting myself off after this post to knit and watch The Big Lewbowski.
What an amazing night. I cried watching Obama’s acceptance speech. I’ve watched it several times and it moves me every time. I’ll give McCain credit-his speech last night was one of his best. It reminded me of the good aspects of the Republican party that have been missing from the Bush version.
I was overjoyed when Obama won the primary. But when he picked Biden for VP I thought about going third party. In the end I voted for Obama. Mr. Radical went third party and we bickered good naturedly about it in the car to vote and even in line waiting (much to the amusement of the people around us).
There are so many amazing images from last night. The one that really got to me was watching Amy Goodman. Last night I was watching Democracy Now’s streaming video and she was beaming. Most of the time she looks very serious because she’s reporting grim news. To me seeing Amy smiling and looking like she might cry happy tears represents how I feel about this election. Now that the Bush regime is ending we can all smile.
Naturally, there’s election news everywhere. My fave was Democracy’s Now coverage. Their election show can be found here.

From the Election Protection coalition:
“The nonpartisan Election Protection coalition was formed to ensure that all voters have an equal opportunity to participate in the political process.
Through our state of the art hotlines: 1-866-OUR-VOTE (administered by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law) and 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota (administered by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Education Fund), this website, and comprehensive voter protection field programs across the country, we provide Americans from coast to coast with comprehensive voter information and advice on how they can make sure their vote is counted.
Made up of more than 100 local, state and national partners, this year’s coalition will be the largest voter protection and education effort in the nation’s history.
Throughout the election process, our volunteers - more than 10,000 strong - will be entering data and information into OurVote live (developed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation), an interactive environment painting the most comprehensive picture of election irregularities from the perspective of the voter available anywhere. Unique in the excitement of this political season, Election Protection focuses on the voter - not on the political horse race - and provides guidance, information and help to any American, regardless of who that voter is casting a ballot for.
This site was made possible through generous donations including from the Women Donors Network.”

Today is election day in the US. Have you voted yet? (Mr. Radical and I voted early.) If you need to find your polling place or other voting info you can visit Vote 411’s website.
How are you feeling? Excited? Nervous? Motivated? Worried? Freaking paranoid that the election will be stolen or canceled or martial law will happen? (Guess which one I am!)

Alright this is another post that only applies to California but it’s an important one.
From the site No On Prop 8:
Proposition 8 would eliminate fundamental rights for a group of Californians. It’s unfair and it’s wrong.
Fiction: Prop 8 doesn’t discriminate against gay people.
* Fact: Prop 8 is simple: it eliminates the rights for same-sex couples to marry. Prop 8 would deny equal protections and write discrimination against one group of people—lesbian and gay people—into our state constitution.
Fiction: Teaching children about same-sex marriage will happen here unless we pass Prop 8.
* Fact: Not one word in Prop 8 mentions education. And no child can be forced, against the will of their parents, to be taught anything about health and family issues at school. California law prohibits it.
California’s top educators including Superintendent of Schools Jack O’Connell and California Teachers all agree: Prop 8 has nothing to do with education.
Fiction: Churches could lose their tax-exemption status.
* Fact: The court decision regarding marriage specifically says “no religion will be required to change its religious policies or practices with regard to same-sex couples, and no religious officiant will be required to solemnize a marriage in contravention of his or her religious beliefs.”
Fiction: A Massachusetts case about a parent’s objection to the school curriculum will happen here.
* Fact: California gives parents an absolute right to remove their kids and opt-out of teaching on health and family instruction they don’t agree with. The opponents know that California law already covers this and Prop 8 won’t affect it, so they bring up an irrelevant case in Massachusetts.
Fiction: Four Activist Judges in San Francisco…
* Fact: Prop 8 is about eliminating a fundamental right. Judges didn’t grant the right, the constitution guarantees the right. Proponents of Prop 8 use an outdated and stale argument that judges aren’t supposed to protect rights and freedoms. Prop 8 is about whether Californians are willing to amend the constitution for the sole purpose of eliminating a fundamental right for one group of citizens.
Fiction: If Prop 8 isn’t passed, people can be sued over personal beliefs.
* Fact: California’s laws already prohibit discrimination against anyone based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. This has nothing to do with marriage.
Fiction: Pepperdine University supports the Yes on 8 campaign.
* Fact: The University has publicly disassociated itself from Professor Richard Peterson of Pepperdine University, who is featured in the ad, and has asked to not be identified in the Yes on 8 advertisements.
Fiction: Unless Prop 8 passes, California parents won’t have the right to object to what their children are taught in school.
* Fact: California law clearly gives parents and guardians broad authority to remove their children from any health instruction if it conflicts with their religious beliefs or moral convictions.
There’s more info on No On Prop 8’s site.

From Pardon The Witches:
“On 28th of August 2008, the Swiss Parliament granted an official pardon to Anna Goeldi who in 1782 was the last person to be executed as a witch in Western Europe. It is time the British government followed this example and this Halloween offered a symbolic pardon to those people who were punished for witchcraft in Britain between the Sixteenth and Eighteenth Century.
Angels, the UK’s largest Halloween retailer, has consulted with historian and witchcraft expert John Callow to prepare eight historical test cases that aim to remove the suspicion and fear that continues to surround these innocent women (and one man). Please fill in the petition below to see your name added to the list that will be presented to Justice Minister Jack Straw MP on Halloween 2008 asking him to recommend the Queen issues a posthumous pardon.”
CNN covered the story:
Halloween pardon sought for executed British witches
“Campaigners in London planned to petition the British government Friday for a posthumous pardon for the hundreds of people executed for witchcraft between the 16th and 18th centuries.
They said Halloween is a good time to highlight the “grave miscarriage of justice” suffered by the men and women falsely accused of being witches.
Their petition asks Justice Minister Jack Straw to recommend that Queen Elizabeth II issue a pardon.”
Smithsonian Magazine had a recent article on the Salem witch trials.
A Brief History of the Salem Witch Trials
“The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft—the Devil’s magic—and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. Since then, the story of the trials has become synonymous with paranoia and injustice, and it continues to beguile the popular imagination more than 300 years later.”
Pardon The Witches has some short summaries of some witch trials that be read here.

I had meant to publish this post yesterday. But ironically I was at a Samhain ritual and got back home later than expected.
I’m torn on the pardon. On one hand I don’t see what difference it makes. The people are still dead and the injustices still happened. But on the other hand lots of groups have been pardoned for various reasons. As a witch myself it would be nice to see my “Pagan ancestors” if you will get pardoned.
