Obama DOJ Defies Federal Judge
“A heated confrontation is brewing between the Obama administration and the federal judiciary.
Late on Friday, the Justice Department’s lawyers filed a brief with a federal district court in California challenging the court’s power to carry out its own order. The government lawyers insisted that the court has no right to make available to the opposing lawyers in the case a classified document regarding the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping program, even though the document is critical to the lawsuit, the lawyers can obtain the necessary top-secret security clearances, and the document would not be released publicly.
As TWI reported on Friday, the case of Al-Haramain v. Obama presents one of the first direct challenges by a victim of the Bush National Security Agency’s warrantless wiretapping program against government officials. But the government has argued vigorously to have the case dismissed, invoking the so-called “state secrets privilege” to refuse to turn over information about the program, and has refused to provide the organization’s lawyers use of a document that reportedly reveals that Al Haramain was one of the program’s victims. Although U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker has repeatedly rejected the Justice Department’s argument, DOJ lawyers filed an emergency appeal; on Friday afternoon, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected it.”

“In other words, the government lawyers threatened to physically remove the document from the court files if the Judge insists that he has the right — as he already ruled he has — to allow Al-Haramain’s lawyers to see it.
“It’s a not-so-thinly veiled threat to send executive branch authorities (the FBI? the Army?) to Judge Walker’s chambers to seize the classified material from his files!” wrote Jon Eisenberg, Al-Haramain’s lawyer, in an e-mail on Saturday. “In my view, that would be an unprecedented violation of the constitutional separation of powers. I doubt anything like it has happened in the history of this country.”
The stand-off centers on who has the power to decide whether classified information must be made available to someone outside of the government. The Justice Department insists that only the director of the relevant executive agency has that power; and in this case, the Director of the National Security Agency has decided that Al-Haramain and its lawyers should not be allowed to see the classified document, because they don’t have a “need to know” the information it contains.
In fact, it’s clear that in order for Al-Haramain to pursue its case against the government, its lawyers need at the very least the sealed document that indicates they were wiretapped. Indeed, it’s the only known evidence that indicates that the Islamic charity was wiretapped without a warrant; without it, the organization and its lawyers don’t have standing to sue the government.”

“The Catholic Church in Kerala, India, which has barely recovered from the Sister Abhaya murder case, allegedly murdered by two priests and a nun, finds itself in another controversy.
52-year-old Sister Jesme, a former nun from Kerala, has blown the whistle on the alleged sexual abuse that nuns have to face in convents. Sister Jesme has written a book - Amen - Oru Kanyasthreeyude Atmakatha (Amen - an autobiography of a nun,) that talks about the sexual harassment that she faced in the convent at the hands of both priests and nuns.”

There’s some pretty nasty abuse alleged in this book, though it doesn’t surprise me. One of my clients would be very turned on by this story.

I change details about myself all the time for callers. Sometimes I’m 6′2, sometimes I’m 5′4. My breast size range from A cups to DDs. (Bigger than a DD seems unrealistic to me.)
One thing I refuse to budge on is my TV-free status. Now, I try not to be one of “those people”. Often I hear people gripe that TV-freers like nothing better than to go on and on about not owning a television. You know the type-You mention your favorite TV show and granola munchers like me jump on their soapboxes and give a mini-speech on the topic. Even though I consider my blog to be my soapbox I try not to overdue it with my version of the TV Free speech.
The same goes for phone gig too. When callers ask what my favorite shows are I simply tell them I don’t own a TV. The most typical response is a version of “Wow, really?” If the caller wants to move on to the fantasy I let them. Sometimes they ask me about my reasons or how long I’ve gone without one. Personally, I prefer the latter because it is an issue that’s important to me. But I try not to overdue it.
This wasn’t always the case. When I first started as a PSO I tried faking having a television. One client got really weirded out when I told the truth and I became worried that other guys would be too. Trying to fake having a TV is harder than you would think. Callers would ask “Do you watch fill-in-the-blank show?” and I’d say yes. The trouble with lying about this is inevitably the guy would want to talk about the show. I could fake it for a few minutes, agreeing something was funny or interesting. But then they expected me to talk about the show-pick a favorite character, episode, etc. There’s no way to fake that, at least I can’t think of any. I quickly decided to answer this question truthfully.
Reactions to my admission are varied. I’ve had clients express envy, wishing they could get rid of the annoying cartoons their kids watch on endless loop. Some guys will easily believe everything from me fucking my virgin ass with a ten inch dildo to me fucking three guys that I spontaneously invited over for an orgy. But then they won’t believe I don’t own a television. Why would a person lie about that? (In real life I once had a friend walk through my house looking for a TV he was convinced was hidden.)
On a few rare occasions I’ve talked to another TV-free type. Each time this shared trait has laid the foundation for a great call. Even if it isn’t mentioned again it’s like it creates a sort of bond and endears me to the client. Overall my clients chalk it up as a weird, sort of cute, personality trait. I’m fine with that. The soapbox side of me still hopes I’ve planted some subversive seeds nonetheless.

“An exotic dancer was set on fire outside the club where she worked early Thursday, burning more than 60 percent of her body, police said. They were searching for two suspects.
A woman and a man called the 27-year-old dancer outside around 1 a.m. and then doused her with a flammable liquid next to the Babes & Beer sports club in the San Fernando Valley, police said. The dancer ran back inside and patrons came to her aid, police said.”

“A 27-year-old woman was charged today with attempted murder, mayhem and torture for allegedly throwing an accelerant from a soda bottle on an exotic dancer and setting her ablaze last week outside a Tarzana nightclub.
Rianne Celine Theriault-Odom, 28, allegedly had a verbal exchange with the 27-year-old dancer outside Babes & Beer about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Theriault-Odom allegedly doused Roberta Busby of Simi Valley, a single mother of two, with a flammable liquid from a soda bottle and set her on fire. The victim remains in critical condition at Grossman Burn Center. Theriault-Odom faces up to life in prison if convicted of the charges.

Robison said prosecutors declined to file charges against Petrillo because there was insufficient evidence to prove he participated in the attack. However, he is being held on a separate probation violation, Robison said.”

“Tarzana- Roberta Busby’s daughter Gabriella turned 5 recently. But the 27-year-old single mother of two couldn’t join the family celebration.
Busby remained secluded in an intensive care ward at the Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks, recovering from second- and third-degree burns over 40% of her body.
Nearly three weeks ago, she was set ablaze in what police say was a vicious attack at a Tarzana club where Busby worked as an exotic dancer. She’s undergone several painful skin grafts and faces still more. Her wounds extend from her waist to her face and are so severe that she can barely talk, her brother Rodrigo Busby said. Doctors say she is stable but needs to remain in the hospital for at least several more weeks, leaving relatives to take turns caring for her two daughters, Gabriella and 8-year-old Marissa.
Police say Roberta Busby had a heated argument with Rianne Theriault-Odom, 29, on Feb. 5 at Babes N’ Beer, a funky bikini-dancing and sports bar near the gritty intersection of Reseda Boulevard and Oxnard Street. Theriault-Odom then allegedly doused Busby with gasoline from a soda bottle and set her on fire, police said.”
I think it’s wonderful that her family is being so supportive. What’s also nice is that I’ve read a few stories now that treat Busby with respect while reporting on the attack. Let’s hope this case sees some justice happen.
