Healthy and Active recently sent me their Rabbit Vibrator to review.

The core shaft in the dildo part is pretty sturdy as is the rabbit itself. The vibrations are strong. The movement of the pearls does create extra noise but overall the toy is not too loud. I’ve always thought the pearls to be a nifty idea.

One disappointing thing was the battery box. I don’t blame the Healthy and Active store. I’ve had this gripe will alot of the battery powered Rabbit Vibes I’ve run across. The vibe takes three C batteries. I prefer my vibes to take AA or AAA batts since those are the types I have around the house. Plus three C batteries are heavy. It’s not crazy heavy but it is annoying to hold while adjusting the controls.
Healthy and Active does have a rechargable Rabbit Vibrator. I often use rechargable batteries in my vibes so the idea that the vibrator itself is rechargable is exciting!
Healthy and Active shipped the item fast and had discreet packaging. They included a mini packet of lube which I think is a nice touch. Also included was a coupon for 10% off an order which was also nice.

Love Honey recently sent me an update on their Rabbit Amnesty project:
How Sex Toys Are Recycled
“Did you know that throwing away your old vibrator might damage the environment? All waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), whether it’s TVs, toasters, computers or vibrators, can release toxins and pollute the environment when thrown into landfill.
As a result, the EU has introduced a directive aimed at reducing the environmental impact of WEEE by encouraging the reuse of electrical components and increasing recovery of raw materials from waste electrical products.
The legislation - known as Directive 2002/06/EC to its friends - has now passed into law into all EC member states. As of July 2007 in the UK, it is illegal to dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment into landfill. Now, everything from your broken vibrator to your old Breville sandwich maker must now be disposed of properly.”
(snip)
“Instead of chucking your old vibrator in the bin, you can send them to Rabbit Amnesty and we’ll recycle them for you with the help of SWEEEP, a specialist waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) processor.”
—
You can watch of video of the sex toys getting recycled here. The recycling process is pretty cool. I wish they had some of these machines in the States. We could cut down on so much waste in the landfills! With all the depressing news lately this story made my hippie heart happy.

In 2005 I blogged about Real Dolls. I found a Real Doll documentary at both Feministing and Scanner. Personally, I don’t see the appeal of dating an inanimate object but after watching the video it seems the Real Dolls are fulfilling a need. From a sex worker perspective I found the film really interesting. The men featured reminded me of some of my callers. The ones I’m thinking of are the guys that are single, socially awkward, have failed relationships under their belt and are mostly looking for companionship instead of a hot and heavy sex call. In a world as overpopulated as ours it is telling that many people can feel so isolated and lonely.
The scenes of the Real Doll Factory are fascinating. What a strange place to work eh? I have to give kudos to the people who made the film. They do not attack the doll owners or the Real Doll company and instead let them tell their story.

Like Dr. Honeydew in the laboratory I’ve been dutifully testing out my new toy. But first-

Look it’s a little bunny backpacker hiking up Orgasm Mountain!
The iBuzz Two concept is a clever one. The vibes pulse along to the music on your iPod. The volume control turns up the power of the vibe. My volume was turned up about a third to start the bullets buzzing. The silver bar along the top gives you various buzzing speeds. Two bullets mean more fun for solo pleasure or two people get to play. You can hook one or two earbud sets into it.

Here’s the iBuzz Two all hooked up.
The wires are a bit of a spaghetti monster in this pic. Once you get used to them though they’re not a hindrance. I wish it could be wireless but then again I want the iPod earbuds to be wireless too.

A close up of the vibrating bullets. The vibrations are good. The buzz matches the bass of a song. Figuring out how a song will vibrate out is the funnest part of this toy. Some songs were an obvious choice, some surprised me.
My favorite songs to buzz to:
-Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode-because I’m just a pervert
-Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine-that band is hot hot hot without any vibration but even better with one
-Various Peaches songs-she’d appreciate it I think
-I Touch Myself by the Divinyls-saw it on the iBuzz web commercial and couldn’t resist
But the best song to rock out to? Enya’s Memory of Trees-nice steady pulse and it’s more of an uplifting masturbatory experience.
If you get the iBuzz Two drop me a line and share your sexy music buzz list with me.

Website sells sex toys but only to believers
NEW YORK — Condoms. Lube. Vibrating panties. All are part of Joy Wilson’s mission to better serve the Christian community.
From her home in Ventura, Calif., the 35-year-old mother of two runs http://www.book22.com, where she sells sex toys for married Christian couples.
The rise of the Internet has spurred more open conversations about sex within the church community, and Wilson says her website aims to support that sexual communication.
While I don’t like the discrimination intertwined in these sex stores (so married Christian couples can be as perverted as they like but the rest of us are screwed?) I do think the more people exploring their sexuality the better.
