2,000 US Soldiers

Coffins of US soldiers.

“2,000 U.S. Deaths in Iraq is 2,000 Too Many!
Organize an Anti-War Action the Day After the U.S. Announces the 2,000th U.S. Soldier Death in Iraq…

…The sad day is coming when the 2,000th U.S. soldier will have died in Iraq. We need to use that milestone to remind people of the human cost of the war and call for the troops to come home.”

Last count I saw the ‘official’ tally was 1996 so I thought this was timely.

How many Iraqis saved per soldier dead? Sum/average Saddam killings over ten years, less islamic carnage per year since the war: net saved.
So, how many Iraqis saved per sacrificed life of our guys/gals?

Let’s get statistical (righteously, honestly) and also let’s get real about the goal and the process of history’s kindest imperialist: America.

Well, flynnscout, that is a very good question. Of course it assumes that fewer Iraqis have died per year under the Bush regime than under our former puppet Saddam. If only that were true, but it is horribly wrong.

Now, Saddam was a bad man, but no worse than most of the dictators we have propped up. The next one we became enchanted with was Chalabi. He fed the neo-cons a nice tasty crock-o-shit that was just what they wanted to hear; in addition to lies about Saddam having Nu-Cu-Lar bombs ready to obviliate us in 45 minuntes, he also said Saddam killed tens of thousands of Kurds and buried them in mass graves. He lied a lot.

Saddam did kill and torture people. Occasionally. Often this happened at Abu Ghraib, same place we use for it. He called it criminal justice and we do too. But shortly after Gulf War I, a bunch of Shias uprose at our beck and call (we left them hanging, literally) and Saddam put them down. He slaughtered them. About 8,000 bodies were found in a mass grave. He argues they were attacking the state and it was his right to stop the insurgency, sound familiar? The other mass grave found did have Kurds, several thousand calateral deaths from a chemical battle in the Iraq/Iran war. We know what chemicals Saddam used, since we helped him out with those, and the chemicals that killed the Kurds showed different symptoms… OUR OWN GOVERNMENT issued a report saying that it was likely the Iranians gas that killed the Kurds. Bush only mentions those reports that already agree with him.

Anyway, we are left with 8,000 deaths of possibly innocent people in the past 10 years. Thats 800 a year… a rather shitty human rights track record.

But, and this does not include the half million people we killed with sanctions, WE as a nation under the Chosen Son, George W Bush, have killed at least 125,000 Iraqi civilians. That figures out to 50,000 a year for 2 1/2 years. Thats a far shitty human rights record…. that is serious war crime territory, particularly since this war was illegal under the Geneva Convention.

Now to the point, here is the math you requested.

    800-50,000 = -49,200 per year
    -49,200 / 2000 * 2.5 (for years of war) = -61.5

Basically, we have killed 61 and a half Iraqi civilians more per dead US soldier per year than Saddam killed. Congradulations, like all Imperialists we are so very ‘kind’.

All Imperialists from ancient Rome on through today have claimed to have the best interests of those they slaughtered at heart. The Romans did it to the Gauls and Celts to civilize them. The British did it to the Zulu’s for the same reason and ‘freed’ India. The Chinese did it to Nepal, just ask the Dali Llama, from whose peacefully oppresive regime they were spared in their graves. Better yet, ask a Native American about the worlds kindest imperialist, that is if you can find one.
