Gulp

Bill of Rights

Well, this is disturbing. I’ll admit I wouldn’t have remembered “petition for redress of grievances” but not being able to name “freedom of speech” or “freedom of religion”?!?! Let us now shed a little tear for the state of public education.

Study: Few Americans know 1st Amendment

CHICAGO - Americans apparently know more about “The Simpsons” than they do about the First Amendment.

Only one in four Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances.) But more than half can name at least two members of the cartoon family, according to a survey.

When I win the lottery or otherwise come into money, I’m going to have a series of bumper stickers printed that say things like, “I hate my freedom,” “Sheepeople,” “Who needs a Constitution,” “Gleefully awaiting the dictatorship,” and “Too dumb to care.” The city is going to have a veritable rash of small vandalisms. I’ll be organizing groups to do said sticking. I figure in one night I can get about eight hundred cars.

Sadly, Government is a required class in most high schools. This just goes to show that the K-12 system is social before it is educational. In other words, if you plan on learning, DIY.

Carrie-Why not create a Cafe Press like shop? No set up fees, you get a percentage and the bumper stickers can be spread far and wide. Not sure if Cafe Press does bumper stickers though, but there’s got to be some place that does right?
