Busted for cheap Scooby Doo costume knock offs? Zoinks! The article does not explain the furry lifestyle; instead it opts out by calling the behavior “bizzarre”. (I covered it briefly here) It is worth noting the Queens District Attorney’s comments. He implies that people who dress up in children’s cartoon character outfits are somehow threatening to children. I don’t fully understand the furry fetish. But from what I know the emphasis is on feeling like a furry or an animal and not on children. Certainly the Bob the Builder costume is disturbing but comments such as his stereotype all furries. It would have good for the reporter to note this distinction.
From the NY Daily News:
Kinky costume caper crushed
“A Queens man is under arrest for putting a kinky spin on Scooby-Doo - and shagging, too.
Julio Quevedo, 43, faces jail time for peddling bogus costumes of popular cartoon characters to undercover investigators who told him they would be used for a triple-X fetish called “furry porn,” cops said yesterday.”
