Today is the anniversary of the end of the Waco siege.
If you’re not familiar with the Waco siege you can get a general overview on the Wikipedia page. However, I believe there’s more to the story than presented on that entry.
I’ve long believed that Waco was a flexing of the government’s muscle and that it was a way to suppress opposition. This was a prime example of “protest the government and get punished”. But I just sound like an angsty ranter. Why not listen to Bill Hicks talk about it here?
From Lew Rockwell:
Waco to Libya: 18 Years of Humanitarian Mass Murder
“Long ago, when governments slaughtered the enemy merely for being different and thus subhuman or for occupying desired territory, such crude rationales satisfied the states’ agents and subjects. The modern democratic state, however, employs more sophisticated propaganda when it burns, gasses, shoots, and bombs people including civilians. There is always the excuse of security: the targeted people pose a threat. When this argument seems tenuous, it is well complemented by that most insidious of pretenses: The killing is done for the good of others. It is an act of kindness. The American empire, like the Roman and British before it, inflicts violence to civilize and rescue those in need.
(snip)
The American belief in benevolent mass murder is not a partisan disposition. Most liberals and conservatives alike take it for granted that, while the federal government’s armed agents sometimes act recklessly or carry out mistaken orders, their acts should never be seen as murder. The assumption is nearly universal that Obama, Bush and Clinton, whatever their partisan opponents might think, are not mass murderers in the mold of Gaddafi, or cult leaders along the lines of Koresh, when in fact our presidents are far worse than either of these men in terms of cultish power as well as sheer body count. All three of these chief executives, and many before them, have commanded the loyalty of far more subordinates willing to die on their orders than Koresh ever could, and have extinguished more innocent lives than Gaddafi ever did.”
The author does an excellent job of typing together the events of Waco to the current Libya situation.

From What Really Happened:
WACO - Who Shot First?
“These two photos, one from a video tape, the other from a film camera, show the first moments of the BATF raid at the Mt. Carmel church. Note the bullet holes in the walls of the church. None of the glass in any of the vehicles the BATF are hiding behind show any signs of being cracked or broken.”
Several photos are analyzed in the above post. Note there are two graphic pictures of burned Waco victims. Nevertheless I think they’re important to see to learn how the government enforces control and obedience.

From The Davidian Massacre by Carol Moore:
Chapter Eleven FBI Tank Attacks Led To Fire And Death
“Surveillance audio tapes indicate that on April 19th Davidians argued about whether the government was trying to kill them. Some believed the FBI would gas for a while and then retreat. However, Davidians refused to be bullied into surrendering to those they believed had brutalized them and would bow only to the word of God.
Fire survivors insist that it was FBI tank attacks which caused the fire that consumed Mount Carmel and killed 76 people. Many believe that the FBI systematically turned Mount Carmel into an inescapable fire trap and kept smashing away at it until they “accidently” started a lethal fire. Some believe the FBI gave that fire a “boost” by shooting pyrotechnic devices into the building. The government claims that a few Branch Davidians spread fuel and lit fires in an act of mass suicide or mass murder. Evidence suggest that the least likely scenario is that Davidians started any of the fires.”
There’s a lot of good info about Waco in the above link.
