Sex News Roundup

Sex news roundup

Found via SXE Phil:
Austrian theatre company to stage satirical opera about Josef Fritzl
“An Austrian theatre says it will stage a satiric soap opera centred around Josef Fritzl, the man who allegedly held his daughter captive for 24 years and fathered her seven children.

The 3raum-anatomietheater in Vienna says the show will be titled Pension Fritzl - German for Fritzl’s Bed and Breakfast. The show is scheduled to open February 23. ”

I have such a warped dark sense of humor I suspect I’d find this play funny. SXE Phil is funny too so definitely check him out.

From Huffington Post:
Porn Bailout: Larry Flynt, Joe Francis Seeking Government Money
“TMZ reports that the pornographer pair is heading to Washington to ask for a $5 billion porn bailout:

“With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,” Flynt says. “It’s time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America.”"

This news is from earlier this month but I just read about it. A porn bailout is not only funny but also points out the absurdity of bailing out select businesses.

From XBiz:
Max Hardcore Attorneys Deliver Appeal to 11th Circuit
“As Max Hardcore prepares to begin serving his 46-month sentence for obscenity crimes, his attorneys have filed an appeal to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal, requesting to orally argue their case.

In documents obtained by XBIZ, Hardcore attorneys point to a dozen issues of contention, including whether community standards should be applied to online material and whether a defendant’s sentence can be enhanced for sadomasochism when the evidence is that the acts were not painful.”

Why couldn’t I have gotten on that jury?

From The Standard:
Group protests sentence of prostitute killer
“The group railed against the sentence imposed on the killer of Stephine Beck, a sex-trade worker who was strangled and whose half-naked body was tossed onto the side of a snowy rural road in Vineland in March 2007.

Wayne Ryczak, a 56-year-old surveyor from St. Catharines, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in May and was sentenced to one day of jail after being given 30 months credit for 14 months of pretrial custody.

The controversial sentence sparked a public outcry and eventually an appeal launched by the Ministry of the Attorney General in June. ”

Pop quiz! If the victim was a 56 year old man and the murderer was a prostitute do you think the sentence would be the same? Extra points for those who detected my sarcasm immediately.

From Planned Parenthood:
Roe v. Wade Anniversary
“On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its landmark decision, Roe v. Wade, recognizing the constitutional right to privacy and a woman’s right to choose abortion. Many of us don’t recall the deadly days before Roe when abortions were illegal and “choice” for too many women meant a dangerous back-alley procedure. In fact, in 1965, before Roe, nearly one-fifth of all maternal deaths in the United States were due to illegal, unsafe abortions.

It’s more than three decades later, yet a woman’s constitutional right to choose still isn’t safe and Roe is in serious jeopardy. In 2005, Congress confirmed the appointment of two new anti-choice Supreme Court justices — Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., both of whom had been nominated by President George W. Bush. As a result, the court is closer than ever to overturning Roe. ”

At least it’s still technically legal?
