From Raw Story:
Two arrested in anti-gay beating at famed NY gay bar
“A patron at the Stonewall Inn, a powerful symbol of the gay rights movement since protests over a 1969 police raid there, was tackled to the floor and beaten in an anti-gay bias attack over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
Two men were arrested in the early Sunday beating, which came little more than a day after a group of male friends bidding an affectionate good night to each other were attacked in another anti-gay assault elsewhere in Manhattan, prosecutors said.”
I heard this on the airport TV when I was flying home. It was surprising and unsettling. One of the things that I loved about NYC was seeing gay couples arm in arm just walking down the street, being a normal couple.

From Yahoo News:
First Christine O’Donnell TV ad: ‘I’m not a witch, I’m you’
“Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell is out with a new ad that follows one of the oddest campaign story lines of this election season. The tea party Republican, dressed in a black blazer and pearls, looks directly into the camera and really levels with voters: “I’m not a witch,” she says.
O’Donnell, who scored a major upset over Delaware Rep. Mike Castle in the state’s GOP primary, said in a past appearance on “Politically Incorrect” that she had “dabbled into witchcraft.”"
As a witch myself I find O’Donnell’s comments infuriating. I’ve watched the video of her saying she was taken to a “satanic ritual”. What the fuck?! I can’t believe that in 2010 people still believe/fantasize/wish that witches were satanic. Satan is part of Christian mythology and is neither part of Paganism nor Witchcraft. Listening to O’Donnell talk about her “witchcraft date” sounded more like a lame teenage fantasy. Does she get off on it? That’s my guess frankly.

Axelrod jokes presidential seal fell because of ‘witchcraft’
“During President Barack Obama’s speech to a women’s conference Tuesday, the presidential seal fell from the podium. A senior White House adviser joked Wednesday that “witchcraft” was the only explanation.
“You know we’ve been here almost two years, five hundred speeches probably, never happened before and I can only think of one thing… witchcraft,” David Axelrod told CBS’ David Letterman.”
Again, what the fuck?! Every few years Witchcraft/Paganism is hauled out as the media’s whipping boy. Is it time again? Sigh. What would the reaction had been had Axelrod blamed another religious group like Jews or Muslims? I’m sure there’d be quite the outrage. But jokingly blame it on witches and what-it’s somehow ok?! Grrrrrr.

Some days I just get on a roll with one site. Again, from Raw Story:
Report: FBI informant might have fired first at Kent State
“A forensic audio expert says a tape recording of the 1970 shooting deaths of four Kent State University students by Ohio National Guardsmen reveals the sound of pistol shots 70 seconds earlier.
The Plain Dealer reports Friday that the expert’s review detected four shots matching the acoustic signature of a .38-caliber revolver.”
Call me a conspiracy theorist (ok if you’re a regular reader you know I am) but I’ve always thought Kent State was staged. There was a plant that fired a shot to start the bloodshed. It sent a strong message-fight the police state and be killed-to the anti-war mood sweeping the country at the time.
