Touching

“I’ve never told a real person this.”
-a client who calls me maybe once a year

This particular client was molested as a boy. His calls consist of me mostly listening. He has a hard time having a normal sex life as an adult and just wants a sympathetic someone to tell his troubles to. It took him a long time to tell me the details of his abuse because he had great difficulty verbalizing them. When he told me the above quote I got a little teary.

It’s clients like him that remind me how valuable and vital sex work is in this world.

It most certainly is touching, Vixen.
    And, you’re right:
There is a great value in having someone
who listens, without judgement. So much of lifes
trials would be lessened for so many; and, all it really takes is having an open ear & an open mind.

Compassion & empathy, in a world of stigma, is a valued commodity.

    ~~You get a gold star,
    my dear.

    xx,Will.

It’s moments like that which remind me why it’s so vital that sex workers exist. There’s no reason he or anyone else should be trapped in isolation.

Shed you’re tears with pride (I’m a little teary with you, so you’re not alone either) and hold onto this feeling… pull it out the next time an ignorant (or idiotic) person says something stupid or unkind. :)

Will-Thanks! You’re right-so many people would benefit just by having someone really listen to them.

Gracie-Thanks to you too! You make a great point-I’ll remember moments like this one when I get the kind of caller that’s making me feel burned out.
