Sex News Roundup

From the Northern Echo:
Murder victim Durham graduate Andrea Waddell
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a Durham University graduate who underwent gender surgery and worked as a prostitute.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry after Andrea Waddell’s body was found in a burned-out flat in Brighton, on Thursday night. She had been strangled.

(snip)

Yesterday, a Sussex Police spokeswoman said a 42-year-old man from Brighton, arrested on Saturday night in connection with the 29-year-old’s murder was in custody.”

Interestingly the article doesn’t mention details about her being drug free like the following one does.

From SWOPLV:
UK: Sex-change graduate working as a prostitute strangled before killer set fire to her flat
“A murdered student who had been working as a prostitute had once been a man, her family has revealed.

Andrea Waddell’s body was discovered by firefighters called to tackle a blaze at the address.

(snip)

Fire crews were called to her flat at 11.40pm. They made their way into the first-floor apartment at the back of the building, where they discovered the dead woman’s body.

A post mortem examination revealed she had been strangled.

Describing Andrea, who grew up in Reading, Detective Chief Inspector Adam Hibbert, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘Andrea was a sociable girl who was well known in Brighton but she led a relatively private life. She was not known to drink, smoke, or do drugs.”

A minor point yes, but with all the articles that mentioned sexual and drug abuse it’s an important point.

From the Cleveland Leader:
22-year-old Akron Stripper Given 1 Year Probation for Stiletto Stabbing
“Chetania Davis, the Akron exotic dancer who made headlines when she stabbed a fellow dancer with her stiletto shoe, has made a plea deal with prosecutors and will serve one year on probation. The 22 year old is eight months pregnant and had faced a felony assault charge before agreeing to plead guilty to a misdemeanor today.”

I missed this news story when the attacked happened. Searching around I found a few more details.

From CBS News:
Exotic Dancer Gets Probation In Stiletto Stabbing
“Prosecutors say Davis used the heel to stab her 52-year-old co-worker several times April 17 in the club dressing room, causing wounds that required seven staples. It was the older woman’s first day on the job.

Police had said she was attacked because Davis didn’t think the club needed more dancers.”

That’s pretty damn harsh. We sex workers are supposed to stick together!

From CNN:
All-male college cracks down on cross-dressing
“An all-male college in Atlanta, Georgia, has banned the wearing of women’s clothes, makeup, high heels and purses as part of a new crackdown on what the institution calls inappropriate attire.

No dress-wearing is part of a larger dress code launched this week that Morehouse College is calling its “Appropriate Attire Policy.”

(snip)

The dress-wearing ban is aimed at a small part of the private college’s 2,700-member student body, said Dr. William Bynum, vice president for Student Services.

“We are talking about five students who are living a gay lifestyle that is leading them to dress a way we do not expect in Morehouse men,” he said.”

Doesn’t it seem overeactive for Morehouse to create this ban because of only five students? And what’s up with that CNN reporter? He’s not even trying to be unbiased.
