Winter Soldier Testimony

Winter Soldier testimony

From Democracy Now!:
Memorial Day Special…Winter Soldier on the Hill: War Vets Testify Before Congress
“War veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan came to Capitol Hill this month to testify before Congress and give an eyewitness account about the horrors of war. Like the Winter Soldier hearings in March 2008, when more than 200 service members gathered for four days in Silver Spring, Maryland to give their eyewitness accounts of the injustices occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan, “Winter Soldier on the Hill” was designed to drive home the human cost of the war and occupation—this time, to the very people in charge of doing something about it.”

This Democracy Now! episode is actually from Monday but I just watched it yesterday. There’s such moving testimony that I watched to bring it to your attention. There were a few parts that made me tear up. This video is a quick education on what actual soldiers are really going through.

This quote is from Marine Adam Kokesh:
“You do not have to have served to see how recent pressures on the military are making us weaker as a country. You do not have to have witnessed the occupation firsthand to see its absurdity. And you do not have to be an expert on international relations to see the disastrous effects of our foreign policy. Ignorance, propaganda and distraction have made up the last refuge of those Americans who would rather remain in denial about our current state of affairs. Now that we are facing the truth and the majority of America is at least nominally against the occupation of Iraq, what fate will we claim for our nation? For some, their silence will be their hypocrisy, and their inaction will be their complicity with the destruction of our great union.

But I have an unwavering faith in my country, and I know that the self-righting ship of the United States of America will one day regain its course, but only with the great toil, courage and sacrifice that it demands of its Winter Soldiers. I am proud to call myself one of them today.”

Review: Why Just Her Mini-Review

book on Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam

I was hoping to be done with the Why Just Her book by now. Since I’m one of the blogs on Sibley’s book blog tour I’m doing a mini review this month. In a perfect world I’ll be able to get it done by this weekend and will have an official review up in the beginning of June.

This book isn’t easy to read. It’s upsetting to read how the government uses it’s authority and deep pockets to bend the court system to their will. Sibley shares many emails of Palfrey’s and it’s eerie to read her thoughts. At times she was angry and ready to fight, other times she was scared and helpless. Reading details of a long, complex case certainly isn’t exciting. At times it gets dry and the legal terms and descriptions start to blend together. But it’s an excellent peek into the intensity of fighting the government within their legal arena. More people should be aware of how dirty their government likes to play.

The legal course seems so endless. The book details a seemingly endless loop of meetings, filings, briefings, postponements, rulings on this little bit that affects this other little bit which leads to more meetings, filings, etc. Some of her legal battles aren’t a surprise. After I initially interviewed Palfrey I researched civil forfeiture and found out a ton of disturbing information. When people are stripped of all their assets, finances and resources how in the world can they be expected to adequately defend themselves?

This may not be a fun read but I think it’s an important one. And I’m only halfway through:

Torture And More Torture

US tortures Iraq prisoners

Found via What Really Happened:
Media Ignores Real Controversy Behind Torture Photos; They Show Prison Guards Raping Children
“The real reason behind Obama’s reversal of a decision to release the torture photos has been almost completely ignored by the corporate media - the fact that the photos show both US and Iraqi soldiers raping teenage boys in front of their mothers.

(snip)

However, a reversal of Obama’s decision was announced this week, after he “changed his mind after viewing some of the images and hearing warnings from his generals in Iraq and in Afghanistan that such a move would endanger US troops deployed there,” according to a Washington Post report.

(snip)

This horrific detail has been almost completely ignored by the establishment media in their coverage of the story this week, despite the fact that it’s been in the public domain for nearly five years, after it was first revealed by investigative Seymour Hersh during an ACLU conference in July 2004.

(snip)

Hersh’s contention that minors were raped by prison guards while others filmed the vulgar spectacle is backed up by a leaked Abu Ghraib memorandum highlighted in a 2004 London Guardian report, in which detainees Kasim Hilas describes “the rape of an Iraqi boy by a man in uniform”. The testimony was also part of the military’s official Taguba Report into the torture at Abu Ghraib.”

This is some fucked up shit.

From the Raw Story:
Conservative radio hosts gets waterboarded, and lasts six seconds before saying its torture
“Chicago radio host Erich “Mancow” Muller decided he’d get himself waterboarded to prove the technique wasn’t torture.

It didn’t turn out that way. “Mancow,” in fact, lasted just six or seven seconds before crying foul. Apparently, the experience went pretty badly — “Witnesses said Muller thrashed on the table, and even instantly threw the toy cow he was holding as his emergency tool to signify when he wanted the experiment to stop,” according to NBC Chicago.”

Now if only Rush Limbaugh would agree to be waterboarded…

A Difficult Scenario

Evening Repose

Of all the calls I do, one type is the hardest. I’ll describe it in hopes that other sex workers can give me some tips.

The call starts off with the client being vague. I’ll call him Difficult Client (DC). He almost always sounds bored. I’ll ask a range of questions in an attempt to find out what he’s into. For awhile DC will be unresponsive. Eventually he’ll drop a hint.

I’ll jump on the hint and start describing a fantasy. DC will be quiet and the call starts to feel awkward. Out of the blue DC will introduce his girlfriend/wife/mistress character. “That’s not how my mistress does it,” he’ll say. Following his cue I’ll ask about the woman in his life. I call her a character because it’s glaringly obvious that this woman isn’t real.

DC will tell me all about his perfect girlfriend/wife/mistress. She is always stunningly beautiful and fulfills all of his fantasies. I wrote about this scenario in my post Flunking A Call.

Another client likes to tell me about his slut girlfriend. He tells me all about the cocks she fucks and likes to call her a ‘dirty little whore’. I just “oooh” and “ahhh” the whole time. Sometimes he slips up on the details of his girlfriend. I smirk at his slip ups but never mention them.

Occasionally the client will shift focus. His girlfriend or mistress will morph into me. “If you were my Mistress what would you do?” As soon as they ask that the call gets easier. I can relax and we start a fun fantasy. The original mistress isn’t mentioned again and I remain his mistress for the rest of the conversation.

Does he ever mention her again? I’d say it’s 50/50. Sometimes the client calls back and I’m immediately his mistress. But other times they’ll call and start the fake mistress story anew. I’ll again play again until he gives the clue that I’m to start being his mistress.

During these calls I’m mostly in cheerleader mode. I cheer on the client and his fantasy. It seems like they want me to be in awe of their stories. I always pretend the fantasy is real and repeatedly compliment their imaginary woman.

A small handful of clients call me with this scenario. They’ve been calling for years so I must be doing something right. Still, I find these calls difficult. It feels like I can never relax during the call. The more over the top the story is the more awkward it feels.

For example, one of my clients pretends that he walks around his neighborhood with his giant cock out. Women will screech their cars to a halt, jump out and start sucking him while he’s on the phone with me. He’ll fuck them over their car hood while more women pull up and wait their turn. I of course never hear any of these women. But I pretend like they’re all really there.

Again, he’s been a regular for years so I must be doing something right. But I can’t seem to get over my uneasiness. These calls always feel stressful.

So, here’s my question sex workers-How would you handle a client like this?

Got any tips? Email me at radicalvixenatgmaildotcom or just leave a comment. Thanks!

Sex News Round Up Update

China's Loveland closed

Thanks to blog reader Alex for the heads up about China’s Loveland. My readers rock!

Via Violet Blue’s blog:
China sex theme park demolished
“China’s first sex theme park, aimed at improving both the sex education and the sex life of its visitors, has been torn down before it even opened.

(snip)

The park was set to offer workshops on sex technique and safe-sex methods.

But the plans left Chongqing officials red-faced, correspondents say.

The officials called the planned park “vulgar, ill-minded and misleading”, said China Daily.”

Sex News Round Up

Sex News Round Up

From the BBC:
Gay protest broken up in Moscow
“Police in Russia have broken up a protest by gay rights activists in Moscow, staged to coincide with the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Some 30 campaigners had gathered near a university in defiance of a ban on their march and many were dragged away by police when they shouted slogans.

(snip)

There have been many attacks on members of the gay community - they also say they risk being sacked by their employers and shunned by their families.

The Moscow mayor Yuri Luzkhov has described gay parades as “satanic”.”

Sometimes I am shocked that in 2009 people still believe in Satan. I mean, really this Luzhov actually thinks the Dark Lord is mind controlling these gay people and forcing them to walk together with banners? Sigh…

Found via World Sex News Daily:
China to open first sex theme park
“Maybe it was the giant revolving model of a woman’s legs and lower torso, clad only in an unflattering crimson thong, or perhaps it was the oversized replica of a set of genitals. Either way, many residents in the south-west city of Chongqing are not happy about the development of China’s first sex theme park, which has been described as “vulgar” and inappropriate.

The park manager, Lu Xiaoqing, who was inspired by South Korea’s popular sex theme park in Jeju, says that Love Land, due to open in October, will improve sex education and help adults enjoy a harmonious sex life. Inside, visitors will be able to view naked human sculptures, giant replicas of genitals and an exhibition about the history of sex and sexual practices in other countries.

The park will also offer sex technique workshops and advise on anti-Aids measures and using condoms properly.”

The giant genitals sound weird and cool. But the condom and AIDS education are so important. Why not teach them in an entertaining way?

From via Neatorama:
Prehistoric carving is oldest known figurative art
“This sculpture may look a little bit like a roast chicken, but don’t let that distract you - it’s an incredibly important artistic find. This small figurine is arguably the oldest representation of the human body yet discovered.

The figure is clearly human, with short arms ending in five, carefully carved fingers, and a navel in the right position. But its most obvious features show that it depicts a woman, and very explicitly at that. She has large protruding breasts, wide hips and thighs, accentuated buttocks and pronounced vulva between her open legs. In contrast to these exaggerated sexual features, her arms and legs are relatively small and her head has been left out entirely. It was replaced with a carefully carved ring that probably allowed the figure to be suspended like a pendant.”

This is such an exciting find!

From LA Times Blogs:
Sasha Grey, porn superstar and lead in new Soderbergh film, as you’ve never seen her before
“Last Thursday evening, Sasha Grey, one of the world’s most popular porn stars, joined me at Brandeis University for an exclusive interview after a screening of “The Girlfriend Experience,” Steven Soderbergh’s critically acclaimed new mainstream film in which she stars.

(snip)

Early word of Grey’s impending visit set the city of Boston abuzz, and — as we learned via blogs, Twitter, talk radio and newspaper columns — she is not someone who engenders mild feelings. Some said they had never before heard of or seen her; others said they had heard and seen a lot of her. Some said they vehemently disapproved of what she did for a living; others said they couldn’t get enough of her work. Some were outraged that a prestigious university would invite her to visit its campus and that a respected publication would want to interview her; others — especially the 300 students who managed to snag a ticket to the event — were just plain happy that we did.”

The interview certainly isn’t groundbreaking but I liked it. It was refreshing to see a sex worker asked normal questions. Even the audience was respectful.

I was a bit confused about Grey’s comments about the real life escorts interviewed. I believe she said the women interviewed showed “disdain” for their clients. Did I hear that right? The director apparently interviewed eight working girls. I can’t imagine all eight of them having disliking their clients.

As a PSO I certainly don’t have disdain for the guys who call me. I like some and dislike others. But I’m always grateful for them and their calls. They provide me with the means to live my lifestyle. Certainly a few of the escorts interviewed felt similar?

From AVN:
Visiting Max
“The letter came about two weeks ago.

“Concerning your request to visit me, you are all set and can come down at your convenience,” it said. “Friday nights are the best, and if you get here at 5 o’clock, you won’t have to wait more than a few minutes.”

This was good news, since I’d been waiting for more than three weeks after filing the proper form for the Bureau of Prisons to notify me that it was okay to visit Paul Little, aka Max Hardcore, and when it seemed as if the permission would never arrive, I wrote to Paul and asked if there was any way he could find out on his end if I’d been okayed?”

I’m glad to see articles like this. It’s important to remember the adult biz workers who have been royally fucked by the gov’t.

From Scanner:
Transgender Marriage Struck Down By the Great State of Tennessee
“In November 2007, a man and a woman walked into county clerk’s office in Davidson County, Tennessee. Both had driver’s licenses identifying them as “opposite marriage people”– or, in logical land terms, a man and a woman. They were quickly married and promptly forgotten about by the state…

…until this past March, when a woman named Jo T. Rittenberry was arrested in a different county for assault and fraud. The police determined that she was actually a man and notified the state’s marriage board, which this month invalidated the marriage from November 2007. In their announcement to the press, the state said that it doesn’t matter if Rittenberry is male or female– she was born a male, and thus this was a same sex-marriage, which is illegal…”

I hope gay marriage and trans-gender rights become completely recognized in my lifetime. You would think so since I’m only in my 30s. But hell, abortion is still not available to every woman that needs one.

Flashback To The Bush Years

Iraq torture pictures

Is it just me or do Obama’s recent actions remind anyone else of the Bush years? Oh we can’t release these Iraq pictures because it’ll hurt morale! But let’s not change anything about the way we run wars to end this sort of behavior. Bah.

From the ACLU:
Obama Administration Reverses Promise To Release Torture Photos
“The Obama administration announced today that it is reversing its promise to make public photos depicting detainee abuse by U.S. personnel overseas. The Department of Defense had told a federal judge that it would release a “substantial number” of photos in response to a court ruling in an American Civil Liberties Union Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

The following can be attributed to Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU:

“The Obama administration’s adoption of the stonewalling tactics and opaque policies of the Bush administration flies in the face of the president’s stated desire to restore the rule of law, to revive our moral standing in the world and to lead a transparent government. This decision is particularly disturbing given the Justice Department’s failure to initiate a criminal investigation of torture crimes under the Bush administration.”

When the story of Obama’s reversal first broke I commented to Mr. Radical that I hoped the pics were leaked somehow. Seems I’m not the only one who thought it.

From the Telegraph:
‘Prisoner abuse’ photographs surface as Barack Obama prepares to block publication
“Shocking images of inmates in Iraq are the kind of images whose release the president has now vowed to fight in court.

(snip)

One picture showed a prisoner hung up upside down while another showed a naked man smeared in excrement standing in a corridor with a guard standing menacingly in front of him. Another prisoner is handcuffed to the window frame of his cell with underpants pulled over his head.

Others yet to be released reportedly show military guards threatening to sexually assault a detainee with a broomstick and hooded prisoners on transport planes with Playboy magazines opened to pictures of nude women on their laps.”

More pictures can be found here. I recognize several but there are a handful of ones that are new to me. Are they disturbing? Yes. Should you look anyway? Yes. I think these images should be shown to every American so they can understand how their government spreads “democracy and freedom” abroad.

Damn, I better stop here before I sound too cliche in my rantings.
