Sex Work And Compassion: The Angry Family

Elephant Hug
In my early days as a PSO I had a very sweet client for a short amount of time. He was submissive; I’ll call him Sweet Slave. SS was very frank about what he was wanted. We never did any sort of fantasy or role play. He wanted to be a live in slave.

When SS asked if I was looking for a live in I told him no and that I was married. That’s not my normal answer because most of the time clients don’t want the truth. I have many guys who say they want to be my live in. This is just a lead in to a fantasy. They hint what they want and I pretend they’ll become my slave, weaving their kink into the fantasy.

But SS was different. Right away I sensed his feet were firmly planted in reality. He sounded very lonely and sincere. We still did calls even though we both acknowledged I wouldn’t be his real life Mistress. Since we both were kinky we talked about the lifestyle instead. He told me about his past history of serving Mistresses. Talking with him felt more like a therapy session than a phone sex call.

One day I had a message from SS. He said he wanted a session and asked me to call him at a certain time. This was perfectly normal so I did just that.

But Sweet Slave didn’t answer. Another man answered and I backpedaled and said I must have the wrong number. The man instantly got testy, asking if I was calling for [Sweet Slave’s real name].

This made me feel panicked. This was during my first year as a PSO and nothing like this had ever happened to me. What to do?

Again I said I had the wrong number. As I was about to hang up the man started snapping at me. He told me he knew who I was and his brother wasn’t allowed to talk to “those kind of people anymore”. He continued to tell me that his brother was “sick” and they were going to get him some help.

SS had told me he was living with family so I believed this man was his brother. I knew better than to pick a fight with him. I did tell say “I don’t think he’s sick.” He snapped back and told me that he was and that I wasn’t to call again.

Did I put the slightest dent into his brother’s condemnation? Who knows. But I had to say something. His judgmental tone was horrible.

Sweet Slave never called me again.

Face Carver’s Day In Court

Ashley Todd gets probation

From Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
McCain volunteer begins probation program for made-up story
“The McCain campaign volunteer who falsely claimed a Barack Obama supporter carved the letter “B” into her face with a knife entered a probation program this morning.

Ashley Todd, 21, of College Station, Texas, had her initial interview with a probation program for first-time offenders today after she was formally arraigned on the charge of filing a false police report.

She told police Oct. 24 that she was mugged in Bloomfield by a man who then became enraged at the John McCain bumper sticker on her car and came back to leave an Obama-themed mark. Ms. Todd’s story began to unravel when investigators noticed the “B” was backwards, as if she had cut herself using a mirror.”

(snip)

“Her probation could last anywhere from six to 24 months, according to Allegheny County District Attorney spokesman Mike Manko. The terms of the probation will be determined at her first hearing May 22.”

From time to time I like to look over my archives and see if there’s any updates on stories I’ve blogged about. Todd actually got probation in January but somehow I missed it. I wonder if she’ll be allowed to work on any more political campaigns in the future.

We’re 36! We’re 36!

Cup of Coffee by Various Foreign Newspapers

From Reporters Without Borders:
Only peace protects freedoms in post-9/11 world
“It is not economic prosperity but peace that guarantees press freedom. That is the main lesson to be drawn from the world press freedom index that Reporters Without Borders compiles every year and from the 2008 edition, released today. Another conclusion from the index - in which the bottom three rungs are again occupied by the “infernal trio” of Turkmenistan (171st), North Korea (172nd) and Eritrea (173rd) - is that the international community’s conduct towards authoritarian regimes such as Cuba (169th) and China (167th) is not effective enough to yield results.

“The post-9/11 world is now clearly drawn,” Reporters Without Borders said. “Destabilized and on the defensive, the leading democracies are gradually eroding the space for freedoms. The economically most powerful dictatorships arrogantly proclaim their authoritarianism, exploiting the international community’s divisions and the ravages of the wars carried out in the name of the fight against terrorism. Religious and political taboos are taking greater hold by the year in countries that used to be advancing down the road of freedom.””

The analysis is pretty interesting. A sad but funny part is this comment:
“Only a few countries have risen significantly in the ranking. Lebanon (66th), for example, has climbed back to a more logical position after the end of the bomb attacks on influential journalists of recent years.”

Yeah, not bombing journalist is a good way to climb the charts. Laugh or cry people, laugh or cry.

The US didn’t snag the #36 spot. It actually tied with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cape Verde, South Africa, Spain and Taiwan for that spot. Who got #1? It’s a tie between Iceland, Luxembourg and Norway.

Modern Day Shantytowns

Fresno homeless

Found via BAGnews Notes:
Cities Deal With a Surge in Shantytowns
“As the operations manager of an outreach center for the homeless here, Paul Stack is used to seeing people down on their luck. What he had never seen before was people living in tents and lean-tos on the railroad lot across from the center.

“They just popped up about 18 months ago,” Mr. Stack said. “One day it was empty. The next day, there were people living there.”

Like a dozen or so other cities across the nation, Fresno is dealing with an unhappy déjà vu: the arrival of modern-day Hoovervilles, illegal encampments of homeless people that are reminiscent, on a far smaller scale, of Depression-era shantytowns.”

(snip)

“The surging number of homeless people in Fresno, a city of 500,000 people, has been a surprise. City officials say they have three major encampments near downtown and smaller settlements along two highways. All told, as many 2,000 people are homeless here, according to Gregory Barfield, the city’s homeless prevention and policy manager, who said that drug use, prostitution and violence were all too common in the encampments.”

There’s a photo slideshow that accompanies the article. This is a sad story but an important read.

From this gallery. I would have so much fun doing a photo shoot like this. Bamboo is a fascinating plant. I’ve knit a pair of socks out of bamboo and the yarn has a pretty sheen.

Dalai Lama Snubbed

Nelson Mandela and Dalai Lama

From Philly.com:
SAfrica peace conference postponed over Dalai Lama
“Organizers shelved a peace conference meant to show how sports can bring people and nations together because South Africa’s government , fearing trouble with China , won’t allow the Dalai Lama to attend.

South Africa’s soccer officials and a grandson of Nelson Mandela, who were putting Friday’s conference together, announced Tuesday it was postponed indefinitely because the Dalai Lama had been barred.

The conference had been in doubt since South Africa’s government said a day earlier the Dalai Lama was not welcome, prompting condemnation and a boycott by retired Cape Town Archbishop Desmond Tutu and others.

(snip)

Tibet’s government-in-exile said South Africa was acting under pressure from China, but South Africa’s government denied it. South Africa is China’s largest African trading partner.

(snip)

Mandla Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s grandson and a member of the conference organizing committee, told reporters Tuesday he wanted the Dalai Lama there when the conference is held. Barring a leader of the Dalai Lama’s stature, the younger Mandela said, “is really worrying and saddening. Where are we headed in the future?”

“I don’t think as a sovereign country we need to succumb to international pressures,” he added, referring to criticism that South Africa acted to placate China.”

Several years ago I was fortunate to hear the Dalai Lama give a speech. He was an amazing speaker. Despite the injustice that has happened in Tibet he remained hopeful. The man just radiated happiness and his smile was infectious. He was certainly an inspiration to me.

I was especially impressed by how cheerful he was. You know how the popes always seem so serious in their speeches? When the Dalai Lama was on stage he was making cute little jokes and waving to the monks in the first few rows. He seemed like a really cool guy. That’s the kind of vibe spiritual leaders should have I think.

I Thought It Was Hilarious

Recently I went to Planned Parenthood for a regular check under the hood appointment. I was running late and got there about 15 minutes late. When I checked in I said:

“I’m the one who called earlier and who’s late. Well, late for my appointment. That could mean a lot in this place.”

Nobody laughed. It was funny to me.

Sex News Round Up

Sex News Round Up

From the Chicago Tribune:
GOP official denies prostitute report
“The former chairman of the Cook County Republican Party denied Wednesday that he was with two prostitutes when his wife allegedly attacked him over the weekend.

Palatine Township GOP committeeman Gary Skoien said that two female friends were at his Inverness home around 1 a.m. Sunday when his wife assaulted him.

Eni Skoien became angry when she found that “Gary was downstairs in the children’s playroom with two prostitutes,” according to a report filed by a Barrington-Inverness police officer. She allegedly swung a toy guitar at her husband and punched him.”

I held off posting about this thinking there was more to the story. And I was right.

Again from the Chicago Tribune:
Wife of suburban GOP boss Gary Skoien files for divorce
“The wife of a top suburban Republican filed for divorce Thursday, less than two weeks after she was charged with attacking him after discovering he brought two alleged prostitutes into the family home in Inverness.

Eni Skoien sued Gary Skoien, her husband of nearly 13 years, and is seeking a court order to bar him from removing their three young children from the state.

(snip)

Eni Skoien also is asking the divorce judge to toss out a 1996 prenuptial agreement, with her attorneys saying the document was not prepared or translated into her native language. She requests sole custody of the children.”

Her native language? I employed my Google Fu and found out Eni Skoien is a native of Indonesia. But the question I keep going back to is why did he take the prostitutes to the children’s room? Was there some role play going on?

Found via Philly D TV:
Ryanair air hostess Edita Schindlerova exposed as porn star
“A BUDGET airline stewardess will keep her job despite being exposed as a part-time porn star.

Ryanair hostess Edita Schindlerova, 22, secretly appears on X-rated websites posing as Edita Bente, reports The Sun.

But airline bosses have supported Miss Schindlerova, despite appearing in graphic photos showing her having sex with a mystery man.”

Kudos to the airline for supporting her! This is much better news than when that Subway employee got outed.

Though I finally found an update for that story. From Queers United:
Urge Subway to Re-Instate Fired Former Gay Porn Star
“Since this time Subway has enacted a non-discrimination policy protecting employees based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Please urge them to uphold their policy and reinstate this worker as well as issue an apology.”

Found via World Sex News Daily:
Porn star in bourse panty stunt
“A panty-clad Italian porn star shook up the Milan stock exchange Tuesday by accusing flummoxed financiers of ‘’stripping Italians of everything but their underwear'’.

Laura Perego, 22, crept into the bourse in a cloak and threw it off as she jumped onto a table in her panties and body paint in the Italian national colours, shouting: ‘’I want to launch a message to all those who mismanaged our savings'’.”

Sweet! I’d like to see some of that in the States.

From the BBC:
Austrian Fritzl sentenced to life
“Austrian Josef Fritzl, who kept his daughter in a cellar and fathered her seven children, has been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Fritzl, 73, was found guilty of all charges against him, including rape, incest, murder and enslavement.

He showed no obvious emotion at the verdict, telling the court that he accepted it and would not appeal.

The court ordered that Fritzl should serve his life sentence in a secure psychiatric facility.”

His sentence is certainly not a surprise. I do hope they interview him extensively. He’s pretty fucked up and maybe he could give insight that may help others.

Wow 4 Years Now

Lady in Canvas Chair

Yesterday was my fourth blog anniversary. I’d like to thank all my blog readers and all the friends I’ve met through our little sex blog networks. Also, thanks to all the people who email or comment-I really appreciate it! This blog has been tweaked over the years and I’ve feel like I’ve hit a groove with it that keeps it enjoyable for me and you too.

In a perfect world there would have been a cool contest like last year. But I’ve been swamped with non-RV related projects that, while fun, having been sucking my time worse than a cock slut in a glory hole on a Friday night. (Hey this is a sex blog I couldn’t resist.) Next year will be my fifth anniversary so I’m definitely having a contest then.

A Good Point Among Bad Puns

From the Huffington Post:
Sex Workers Getting F*cked by Limp Economy
“There is a wicked myth that has resurfaced with this impotent economy. The sex industry, I heard a blowhard exclaim, is bulletproof, no matter how hard times are, there’s always men who are harder. Everyone laughed. Everyone except me. Because I know differently. Sex workers have been hit below the belt, and they’ve been hit hard. High-end and low-end, all of my ho, hooker, callgirl and rentboy friends are suffering. And since they work in an industry that’s stuck in the era of Prohibition, they are not entitled to any of the protection normal citizens take for granted, like unemployment benefits, severance payments when they lose their jobs, and health care. But I believe we can learn a great deal from them, because most of them are resourceful, hard working survivors, and they have not given up on the American dream. They’re trading services and bartering, slashing expenses, evolving themselves and their businesses to suit these desperate times. And they’re working the most important bone any sex worker has access to: the funny bone.”

The author then quotes a sex worker friend cracking a joke about hard times.

While I appreciate Sterry pointing out that a bad economy affects sex workers too I’m still annoyed by his overuse of puns. The article would have been much better without the “impotent economy” and “sex workers have been hit below the belt” bits.

Pointing out that sex work is work sounds so simple but not everyone gets that. I’m happy that people are writing about sex work in a realistic way. This article is certainly better than the Fox article about the “growing” trend of vanilla dominatrixes. I wrote about that over on the $pread blog.

The Obama Deception

Alex Jones Film Obama Deception

I just finished watching Alex Jones’ new film the Obama Deception. Whoa. My paranoia fears are certainly stoked up now. Still, I’d recommend checking it out.

From Prison Planet TV:
The Obama Deception
“The Obama Deception is a hard-hitting film that completely destroys the myth that Barack Obama is working for the best interests of the American people. The Obama phenomenon is a hoax carefully crafted by the captains of the New World Order.

He is being pushed as savior in an attempt to con the American people into accepting global slavery. We have reached a critical juncture in the New World Order’s plans and only by exposing the con can we help to save freedom in America.”

I was really leaning third party before Palin got picked for Mccain’s VP. When Obama won I was feeling pretty hopeful. But there’s a lot of shit that’s gone done since that “momentous” day on Jan. 20th. After watching the film I ranted to Mr. Radical that I wouldn’t vote for Obama again. Is voting third party throwing away one’s vote? Maybe. But isn’t voting for the corporate overlords again and again worse?

A lot of Obama’s broken promises are covered in this movie. There’s a lot of headlines flashed in the film as a sort of edgy footnoting. I liked it though because it lends verisimilitude to the piece. This is needed because at times it gets a little “preaching to the choir”-esque.

There’s some flaws in the film, sure. Kissinger didn’t give Obama his first job, he gave the job to Geithner actually. As important as the Bilderberg Group is I don’t think it should have been covered so early in the film. Leading with the Bilderbergs gives it too much of a conspiracy vibe. And while the Bilderberg conspiracy is easily documented as a real group it’s an easy bit for critics to jump on. The heart of the movie is when Jones covers how Obama has not only gone back on his word but continues the very Bush policies that he spoke out against. I’d like more of that. Maybe in another two years he can make a sequel?

I especially like that Jones repeatedly challenges the viewer to follow up on the information, to check the facts and theories presented. That is the key to good activism.

(On a side note-How funny is it that one member of Public Enemy has a sexist reality show where women try to “win” his love and another member is a college professor talking politics in this film?)

Not An Overnight

Unmade Bed

Fabulous Foot Slut wants to see me again. We’ve been discussing the details during the last few calls. He often asks me to come in two days time which just isn’t practical. Despite living in separate states I need more than two days to put my life on hold. Though I’ve explained this to him numerous times he asked me on a Thursday if I’d come see him on the weekend. Sigh.

He’s especially excited about a session because his family is going out of town. He got out of the trip because he can’t get away from work and also secretly wants to see me. The last time we saw each other the family was out of town and he took me out to dinner at a nice restaurant. (I’ll admit it-I am a shameless pig when clients take me out to dinner. But that’s a post for another time.)

FFS asked if we could do an overnight. He said he’d like to sleep at my feet through the night. I had to stifle a groan. Without thinking I told him the truth-that an overnight was a waste of his money because he didn’t want to pay to watch me sleep. He took that as an insult and was pouted for the rest of the call.

Realizing my mistake, I tried to backpedal. I tried to pitch it as me being practical. Wouldn’t he rather just do a longer session during the day? This didn’t work. FFS got defensive and said that I just didn’t want to seem him, that I just didn’t care. I tried to salvage the call but it was a flop that couldn’t be saved.

He didn’t call me for a week. Why do I thrust reality into Erectionland? That never works well. His fast was broken when his wife stepped out of the bathroom with bare feet. He thought of me and had to call later that night.

I’ve never done an overnight and don’t want to start anytime soon. How do you maintain their version of sexiness while sleeping? Everybody snores at some point. Everyone lets a nasty fart rip in the middle of the night at some point.

Then there’s the vulnerability part. A client could smother a sleeping sex worker in her sleep. There’s no way am I putting myself in that kind of situation. (Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.)

Now FFS says he doesn’t want an overnight and just wants to see me for a few hours. That’s our usual routine. Though it’s less cash I’m relieved.
